Kenneth Troutt

Kenneth Troutt coached boys' basketball in Arizona for 26 years, four as an assistant at Westwood, and a combined 22 more years as the head coach at Cactus and Peoria High Schools.  Troutt's teams won over 60% of their games with 301 total victories.  His boys were the Arizona State Champions in 1994, State Runners-Up twice, and the region champions six times.  Troutt was named the Arizona High School Basketball Coach of the Year in 1994, Region Coach of  the Year 3 times, and West Valley Coach of the Year 4 times.  He was an Arizona Coaches Association Assistant All-Star Coach in 1989.   C

Sam Ballard

Sam began his 20 year secondary coaching career at Judson High school in 1978 and was head coach at Camelback and Mountain Pointe High schools for a total of 17 years before moving to the community college ranks.  Coach Ballard's head coaching record included 339 wins and a 65% winning percentage.  His 1980 Judson squad was the State Champion and his teams were also in the Elite Eight 4 times, and the Final Four twice. Ballard's teams were also the Central Region champions 4 times.  Sam was named the Arizona State High School Coach of the Year 3 times and the Region Coach of the Year 5 time

Alvin "Chub" Overson

Coach Alvin "Chub" Overson won six northern Arizona conference championships and for two years running was undefeated.  His 1949 Redskins team won the conference, regional, Gallup Invitational, and was eliminated in the semi-finals by Tempe.  His overall basketball record was 134-66.  Coach Overson also coached football and his teams were conference champions five times with three undefeated seasons.  His overall football record was 54-24-2.  The picture is St. Johns High School circa 1930.
