Karen Self

Karen Self has been the head girls' basketball coach at Seton Catholic Prep for 25 years and running.  Coach Self's teams have won 83% of their games over those years.  The Sentinels have won a remarkable 9 Arizona State Girls' Basketball Titles during Coach Self's continuing reign.  Not only have they won 9 titles, they were the Arizona State Runners-Up 4 more times (13 appearances in the Title game in 25 years), and were the region champs 23 consecutive years.  The Arizona Republic named her he Arizona Girls' Basketball Coach of the Year twice, and also once by the Phoenix Suns (the Spiri

Joe English

Joe English has spent all but one year of his coaching career at Chaparral High School.  He was an assistant coach the first year and the next 25 years as the head coach.  Coach English' record was a sparkling 73% winning percentage with 480 total wins.  His Firebirds were the Arizona State Girls' Basketball Champions in 1978, 1996, and 2001.  They were also the State Runners-Up in 1993, 1994, 1995, 2000, and 2003.  The Firebirds were also Regional Champions 10 times during that span.  Some of English's best teams had records of 26-2, 27-1, 32-2, and 33-1.  The Arizona Republic honored Coac

James "Jim" Graham

Coach Jim Graham was the head girls basketball coach at Peoria Cactus High School.  His Lady Cobras were five time Class 4A State Champions (1987, 1993, 2004, 2007, and 2008).  His Lady Cobras were the State Runners-Up three years running in 1988, 1989, and 1990.

Robert L Yniguez

Robert L "Bob" Yniguez was another Hall of Famer that was an Arizona lifer.  Bob graduated from Superior High School, played basketball at Mesa Community College, and finished his education at Arizona State University.  Coach Yniguez began his career at Tolleson and then finished a forty year career at Tempe Marcos DeNiza and McClintock High Schools.  Bob taught social studies and was a certified counselor.  Bob was the Arizona Republic's Coach of the Year in 1980 when his Lady Padres of Marcos de Niza won the 5A State Championship.  His girls were also the State Runner-Up a year later.  Yn

Mike McCauley

Mike McCauley coached girls basketball at Snowflake High School in northeast Arizona for 14 years, and was the boys varsity coach for 5 years.  He was also an assistant in both programs for another 8 years.  Coach McCauley's Lady Lobos were in the state finals 6 times during that period.  The Lady Lobos won the 4A State Title in 1980 by 1 point over Tempe Corona del Sol and another Hall of Fame coach, Larry Hughes.   McCauley's girls won the Class 3A State Basketball Championship in 1982, 1984, and 1991.  The Lady Lobos were also the State Runners-Up in 1983 and 1990.  The 1990 title game w

Larry Hughes

Larry Hughes coached many years at Tempe Corona Del Sol in the girls basketball program and the football program.  Coach Hughes Lady Aztecs won the Class 5A State Basketball Championship in 1993, 1994, and 2001.  His girls were also the State Runner-Up in 2002.  Coach Hughes was also a key assitant to head football coach and Hall of Famer, Gary Venturo.  The basketball court at Corona now bear Hughes' name.
