Bill Gollihare's girls' head basketball coaching career began at Peoria High School in 1980 and he coached the Panthers for the next 18 years. He moved to Deer Valley for the next 8 years and retired. Joy Christian High School managed to lure Bill out of retirement where he coached another 5 years. Bill retired again in 2013 capping a 31 year coaching career. Bill's teams were Arizona State Basketball Champions three times; (twice at Peoria, 1988 and 1989), and once at Deer Valley in 2006. His teams were region champions 11 times and he finished with 513 career wins with his lifetime winning percentage over 70%. Coach Gollihare was named the big schools Girls' Basketball Coach of the Year by the Arizona Repulic in 2006, AAA Conference/Division II State Coach of the Year in 1988, and Region Coach of the Year nine times. Bill was honored as the All-Star Head Coach on 2 occasions and an assistant for another year. Gollihare was the dedicatee of the All-Star Girls Basketball games in 1997 and 2006 (the only coach being a game dedicatee more than once). Bill is a well known and respected mentor for upcoming young women basketball players throughout Arizona. He also coached football and baseball during his sterling career.
