Barbara Stauffer was one of the pioneers in small school girls athletics back in the early years following Title IX. Coach Stauffer was one of the best small school volleyball coaches in Arizona in the 1970's and 1980's. She began her career in Duncan where her Lady Wildkats were the 2A Class State Volleyball Champions back-to-back in 1972 and 1973. Duncan followed up with Runners-Up appearances in 1975 and 1976 under Stauffer. Barb moved over to Ft. Thomas and continued her excellence with girls teams. The Lady Apaches were back-to-back State Runners-Up in 1982 and 1983. Three years later the Lady Apaches were the 1A State Volleyball Champions. Coach was also the head coach of the Ft. Thomas 1986 1A State Girls Basketball Champions team. Coach Stauffer was a very busy member and committee person in the Arizona Coaches Association. Barbara was very active in the old ACA All Star Games played at Eastern Arizona College in the 1980's and 1990's.
