Don Petranovich was the Head Girls Basketball Coach at Winslow High School for 32 years.  In addition to having the new gym named in his honor, Don managed to win 780 games (third most all time) which included 8 State Titles, and 8 State runners-up. The Lady Bulldogs were region champions 23 times during Pertro's tenure.   Don was active in the coaches association, participated in the All-Star games, and eventually served as Winslow's Athletic Director the last 15 years of his career.  Don and his reservation opponents frequently packed gyms with over 10,000 spectators.  Petro was inducted into the National High School Athletic Association's Hall of Fame in 2009 and he was selected as their Coach of the Year in 2011.  Coach Petranovich passed away on June 8, 2022.
