Emil was a charter member of the Arizona Coaches Hall of Fame in 1984 and a charter member of the National High School Association's Hall of Fame in 1996. Emil was the head coach of the Winslow Bulldogs from 1947 to 1983. The Bulldogs were state champions in 1948, 49, and 1964. Coach Nasser won 243 games during his tenure which was one of the highest total of victories at the time. Coach Nasser is also in the Northern Arizona University Athletic Hall of Fame. Emil chose Winslow over a pro football career with the Los Angeles Dons and now the stadium is named after him. Emil came out of retirement in 1999 and through 2002 to coach both at Winslow and Joseph City. The Joseph City teams were state champions in 1999 and 2002, and were runners-up in 2001. Nasser once led the Bulldogs to the state championship game in baseball and was later a very successful track coach, as well. Nasser was responsible for integrating the public pool in Winslow, he surveyed the track, and literally built the stadium which now bears his name in his honor. Emil was a WWII veteran and served in Southeast Asia flying supplies "over the hump" to the Burma Road. Coach Nasser was the first coach from Arizona inducted into the National High School Coaches Hall of fame in 1996. Coach Nasser passed away on his 95th birthday in Flagstaff surrounded by family and friends on December 9, 2016. Coach Nasser was presented a lifetime service award by the Executive Board of the Hall of Fame at the 2016 Hall of Fame Induction Banquet.
