Sport: Football

School: Corona Del Sol

Gary Venturo was the head football coach at Tempe Corona Del Sol High School for 23 years. His Aztecs won 154 games and lost 101 during that span. Although Coach Venturo's boys never won a State Title, he and his teams earned tremendous peer respect for his honesty, integrity, and "put the kids first" mentality. Many of his best positive comments come from from a list of other Hall of Fame coaches. Gary fought through a brain tumor, a change in his speech patterns, and other associated debilitating neurological conditions for twenty years after the initial diagnosis. There are countless former players and colleagues that are proud to see Coach Gary Venturo in the High School Athletic Coaches Hall of Fame. Coach Venturo retired in 2009.
