Huston T. Morrison had a coaching career of 37 years--27 in Arizona. He coached 20 years of football, 16 years of cross-country, and 37 years of track and field. His cross-country dual meet boy's teams won 139, lost 57, and tied 1. He had two boy's divisional championships and three girl's divisional championships. He coached the ACA All Stars in 1976. When he retired from Alhambra High School (a school he "opened" with in 1962) after 27 years his track teams had won 11 league meet titles, 3 city dual meet titles, and 6 divisional championships. Morrison's overall record in track was 144-42-1. Coach Morrison was a member of the Arizona Coaches Association for 20 years and served as the body's president. Morrison was the District 7 representative on the National Federation High School Track Rules Committee from 1979-1982. In football he participated in the "Down Under Bowls" in Australia and New Zealand. Morrison was a track official at the 1988 Olympic trials in Indianapolis. Coach Morrison served 3 years in the Navy during WW II. Hugh's wife of 52 years, Shirley, passed away in 2002. Huston T. Morrison passed away on December 18, 2019 at the age of 96. He is survived by two sons, 4 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.
