Thomas “Alva” Hawkins

Thomas "Alva" Hawkins was a great coach from a great athletic school, in Coolidge, AZ. Coach Hawkins taught for 10 years in Oklahoma before moving to Coolidge. He stayed there for 28 more years. Coach Hawkins won back-to-back football titles in 1967 and 1968. Coach also won the Boys Track Title in the spring of 1969. Coach Hawkins was a veteran of WWII and managed to get his education through the GI Bill following the war. Alva was one of many who served all of us so we could coach high school sports in a free country--which would put him in any American Hall of Fame.
