John Gleeson has the rare distinction of having two baseball fields that bear his name. Coach Gleeson led the Salpointe Lancers for most of the 1960's and personally built most of the baseball complex while also developing winning teams. In 1969 Gleeson moved over to Flowing Wells High School and continued to develop winning teams and putting his "touches" on the Flowing Wells diamond. His Caballeros were always "in the mix" and formidable opponents. Coach Gleeson was an ACA All Star baseball coach in 1977 and continued coaching for 32 total years. Gleeson was inducted into the Pima County Sports Hall of Fame in 1997, the Salpointe Sports Hall of Fame in 2004, and into the Arizona Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame in 2007. He served as the president of the Pima County Sports Hall of Fame in 2006.
