Jesse Parker was an outstanding football coach with stops at Camelback, Mesa Mountain View, Texarkana Texas, and Gilbert High Schools. Jesse's teams were characterized by toughness and discipline. Coach Parker's 1973 Camelback Spartans were state runners-up and his 1974 team was the 5A state champions. Jesse moved on to the new expanding East Valley and set up shop at Mesa Mountain View. Jesse Parker and the Mountain View Toros became a household name for the next 15 years with state titles in 1978, 83, 86, and 93. Three other Toros teams were runners-up in 1987, 88, and 92. Parker was the ACA Coach of the Year 4 times and the Phoenix Press Box Association Coach of the Year in 1975. Parker coached in the ACA All Star Game in 1975 and the Utah/Arizona All Star Game in 1980. Coach Parker left Arizona for a short stint to coach in Texas and returned to finish his incredible career at Gilbert. Parker was inducted into the National High School Athletic Coaches Association in 2011. Coach Parker finished his career with 309 wins (only 7 Arizona prep coaches have passed the 300 mark). Mountain View High School honored Coach Parker by naming the football stadium after him during their 2016 football opener. Coach Parker passed away at age 77 on July 28, 2017.
