Coach Mike Morgan graduated from Coolidge H.S. in 1974. Mike attended Central Arizona College and then Northern Arizona University both on track scholarships. After receiving his degree in 1980 Mike was an assistant at Apache Junction and Chinle. Morgan took his first teaching/coaching position at Ganado HS finishing with a 52-18 record in football. The Ganado Hornets made the play offs 6 out of the 7 years Morgan led the program. Coach Morgan then took a teaching and coaching job at St. Johns H. S. in 1988. Morgan’s St. Johns Redskins won 6 State Championships, 2 Runners-Up, and had 3 consecutive State Championships between 1992-1994. Coach also had 2 back-to-back State Championships 2007-2008. In Mike’s 43 years of being a head football coach he never had a losing season. He also coached in both the 2A and 3A Divisions. Morgan's teams won 22 Regional Titles. Mike was selected the National High School Football Coach of the Year in Region 8 in 2018. Probably the biggest highlight of Coach Morgan’s coaching career is his 349 football wins which is Arizona’s #1 all-time total.
