Narional Hall of Fame 1998

Norma Bellamy was the second woman inducted into the Arizona Coaches Hall of Fame in 1992. That was the only time Coach Bellamy was second. During her long and illustrious career at Safford, Norma's Lady Bulldogs collected 21 (yes, twenty-one) Arizona State Volleyball Titles. Although Safford has historically been competing in the 3A/4A, many of the Lady Bulldog's victories came over 4A and 5A teams from the Tucson area. By the time Coach Bellamy retired in 1994, her teams combined for an unheard of 520-33 record. The AIA honored Norma Bellamy in the year 2000 as the "Coach of the Century". Norma was the 1980 National High School Athletic Association's Coach of the Year for Volleyball and she was inducted into their National Hall of Fame in 1998. The gymnasium at Safford now bears the Bellamy name.
