Robert L "Bob" Yniguez was another Hall of Famer that was an Arizona lifer. Bob graduated from Superior High School, played basketball at Mesa Community College, and finished his education at Arizona State University. Coach Yniguez began his career at Tolleson and then finished a forty year career at Tempe Marcos DeNiza and McClintock High Schools. Bob taught social studies and was a certified counselor. Bob was the Arizona Republic's Coach of the Year in 1980 when his Lady Padres of Marcos de Niza won the 5A State Championship. His girls were also the State Runner-Up a year later. Yniguez was a 25 year member of the Arizona Coaches Association and once served as the Vice President. Robert was honored in 2004 by being inducted into the Arizona Hispanic Sports Hall of Fame. Coach Yniguez passed away suddenly in August of 2015.
