Sport: Football

School(s): Bowie, Clifton, Ray, Mohave, Yuma, Yuma Catholic

Tom’s unique football coaching career featured seven Arizona high schools and one Texas high school. He was renown for taking schools that had experienced little, if any, success in football and turning the program around. He accepted jobs at Bowie, Ray, Mohave and Yuma, all schools that had not won a game in the year before he assumed the head coaching responsibilities. His lifetime winning percentage of 60% is an amazing testament to his coaching ability. Tom’s 1979 team at Ray was State Runner-up and his teams were Region Champions five times. He was named Region Coach of the Year in 1979, 1987 and 2003. He was named the All Star game head coach in 1980 and is one of the few coaches that coached schools in the C, B, A, AA and AAA divisions, when Triple A was the highest division in the state.
